Dorris Keeven-Franke
I’ve been writing books for over thirty-five years, and love sharing stories that no one has heard before. A cemetery that was lost and forgotten, immigrants who impacted history, or enslaved people whose story has been overlooked.
As a professional genealogist, I search out descendants for lawyers or for people who want to know more about people who came to the U.S. Having taught genealogy in schools, I love to find difficult things, like the story we never talked about.
As an archivist, I know the value of an original document, written at the time when history happened. Everyone leaves some trace of their life in something they wrote, something they did, or what they did. After all…

“History Happens, and it all matters.”
It happens to everyone, and it can never be erased, no matter how hard you try. Let’s not forget that.

My approach
I will tell you the story as I found it in the original documents, newspapers, photos, and other primary sources. I will share what happened, when it happened, and who was involved, using that research. Then we explain that history in the context of the time in which it happened.
